As we enter the season of Lent, and with Kingston again designated as being in a Covid “Green Zone”, another “ad hoc” Chalmers “team” consisting of members of the Worship, Music, and Re-opening Committees (Bill and Joan Egnatoff, Al Fletcher, Monika Holzschuh, Nick Steinberg) met on Monday Feb.15. In addition, the Rev. Ian Mackay, our Guest Minister for Lent and Easter, and Rorry Dokken, our Interim Music Director, joined in the discussion as we planned for Worshipping in our Sanctuary again, scheduling, recording, and streaming issues, and, most importantly, the content of the Services.
It has been decided that we will again alternate in person and pre-recorded Services, recognizing that this could change at any time depending on Public Health Regulations related to how well the emergence of the more highly infectious Covid variants is contained.
Preparation for Chalmers participation in the joint “Ecumenical Worship Partnership” special pre-recorded Lenten and Easter Services was also discussed. The Ash Wednesday Service has been uploaded. Here is the direct link: https://youtu.be/VEIMgbhbOhI. It can also be found on the Chalmers website, under “Weekly Worship”.
The following is a tentative schedule for our Sunday Worship Services during Lent and Easter:
Three pre-recorded Sunday Services will be posted on our YouTube channel: February 21, March 7 (our next “House Church”, posted following a “live” Zoom Service) and March 21.
Four Sunday morning Worship Services in our Sanctuary with live-streaming on our YouTube channel: February 28, March 14, March 28 – Palm Sunday, and April 4 – Easter Sunday.
Everyone is encouraged to consider volunteering to participate in our Lenten and Easter Worship Services. We will find out more this coming week about opportunities to record contributions for the special Lenten and Easter Ecumenical Services, for example reading Scripture lessons, preparation of prayers, sharing brief reflections, and offering recordings of music. This information will be shared as soon as it is available.
