The object of the time limited conversations is to recommend a model of congregational administration/decision-making reflective of Chalmers present needs and capacity. \nThe model will feature the principles of Restorative Practice which all our Circles have been using.\nAt the last meeting\, the group reviewed the additional underlying principles we wish in our decision making and some of the governance requirements of the United Church of Canada Manual. We have\nbegun to flesh out a framework of how Chalmers’ Circles might adapt to UCC requirements. \nIt is truly important that an array of individuals know about and contribute to this wayfinding exercise. DESCRIPTION:From the Chalmers Commission: \nIn fulfilling part of its mandate\, the Chalmers Commission invites and encourages your participation in the inaugural (and subsequent) meeting(s) of the Structures Working Circle (SWC); the initial gathering took place on Monday\, The next meeting will be on Monday\, Dec. 12\, 2022 at 7 p.m. in MacCallum Hall. If you wish background information on what took place at the first meeting\,\nplease email David King <interim.clergy@gmail.com> and he will send you the notes.\nThis Circle will consider options with a view to recommending a model of congregational administration/decision making reflective of Chalmers present needs and capacity. \nAs expressed in\, and embraced by\, the commitments in the Moving Forward document (endorsed by the congregation 20/10/22)\, the SWC is a new\, time-limited effort focused on designing/recommending a future congregational decision-making model that features the principles of Restorative Practice. As there are both obligated (by United Church polity) and optional components to a congregation’s structure\, it is truly important that an array of individuals know about and contribute to this wayfinding\nexercise. \nPlease join the Commission as it supports and shepherds the creation of a distinct “made by Chalmers” system of being and relating!\nThank you!\nG.
