SUMMARY:Memorial for Rev Dr Stanford Lucyk
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Dr. Stanford Ronald Lucyk \nBorn September 15\, 1931\, in Saskatoon; died January 3\, 2025\, in Kingston\, ON. \nSon of the late John F. Lucyk and Lydia Fast. Predeceased by wife Madam Justice Mary Frances Dunbar; former wife Joanne Wright; siblings Dawne and John; and son Daryl. Survived by brother Norton (Shirl ey); sons Ron (Kathy Schlenker)\, Jeremy (Cheryl Cleland)\, and Tim; and grandchildren Nicholas (Brianne Cruickshank) and Jaclyn. \nEducated at the University of Saskatchewan (B.A.)\, St. Andrew’s College\, Saskatoon\, (M.Div.\, S.T.M.-with work at McGill- and honorary D.D.)\, and the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago (D. Min.). Stan was ordained on June 6\, 1955\, into the ministry of the United Church of Canada by Saskatchewan Conference. \nHe served pastoral charges in Quebec (Fairmount-St. Giles\, Outremont)\, Saskatchewan (Knox\, Gull Lake\, and St. Thomas-Wesley\, Saskatoon)\, and Ontario (Trinity\, Ingersoll; Melrose\, Hamilton; Chalmers\, Kingston; Timothy Eaton Memorial\, Toronto; and Royal York Road\, Etobicoke). The citation for his D.D. degree took particular note of Stan’s work in Jewish-Christian interfaith relationships. Over the years\, he organized and led many tours to biblical sites in the Middle East and the Mediterranean basin in the belief that linking biblical story to geographical place could be sacramental. Stan believed deeply in “humanizing the relationship” with everyone he met. Over the years\, at his table\, at his favourite local restaurants\, or in random encounters around the world\, he treated countless individuals to good food\, fine wine\, and captivating conversation. \nThrough his ministry\, touring\, and unique character\, Stan left an indelible legacy. Cremation has taken place through the services of The Robert J. Reid & Sons Funeral Home\, Kingston. Online condolences may be made at www.reidfuneralhome.com.
